Once upon a time…

I wanted to be an artist. The idea felt like a perfect opportunity to always be in touch with my artistic side. I painted landscapes, abstract concepts, and terrible portraits. I managed to display my artwork in a local Starbucks for a month then I realized that painting could not be instantaneous and quite simply, I lost the urge to paint.

In 2012, I was gifted my first DSLR and it was then I realized capturing moments would push my inhibitions towards a new path of artistry. I started my journey with portraiture: I loved meeting people and learning what made them special. Whether it be their personality or unique facial features, I always featured the best version of themselves in the best light.

After studying portraiture for a few years, I was drawn to downtown/urban areas for new inspiration. The architecture spoke volumes of strength, detail, and the everyday bustle of city folk. I fell in love with black and white photography in every city, over and over again. My new love of moody photos also sparked motivation to work on my fitness and to run long distance (probably to keep up with the fast paces of downtown, no doubt). The Rideau Canal in Ottawa, ON inspired me to run not only 10 km but 20km. It was easier to gain distance because of low elevations and the signage marking the distance between yourself, downtown, and Parliament.

Today, photography holds a special place in my artsy arsenal. I use it often to express an emotion, be in the present, or just to have fun with a concept.

Photography is my all-access pass to be invited into the lives of people.

I invite you, to come say hello.
